Jack still wasn't sure if it had all been real. He'd been in the Capitol one moment, living out a closely monitored routine that had grown stale and suffocating. Then, in a blink, he'd found himself sprawled out on the docks of Tortuga, dazed, disoriented -- as if he'd just awoken from a very long dream. Or really, more accurately, a nightmare.

It'd been a shock. Even moreso when, stumbling around to find the nearest tavern to drink his weight in rum, he'd run into Firo. The two had exchanged bewildered greetings, spoken at length about the bizarre fact that Firo was even here, then visited a tavern to drink some as the two got their bearings. Once that was done, Jack had invited Firo onto his ship.

As the two make their way down the dock -- dodging others that shuffle by with cargo and livestock, Jack chattering and boasting about the Pearl in the meanwhile -- a light breeze sweeps cool, salty wind off the sea, a welcome relief from the hot Caribbean sun burning overhead.

"She's magnificent, honestly, there ain't any like her in the world." Arriving at the end of the dock, flanked on both sides by tall ships, Jack comes to an abrupt stop and spreads his hands. "Here she is. So lad, what -- " Realization snatches the rest of the words from his mouth, and Jack stares for a beat, disbelieving, out at the water where his ship had been. "... Not here. It's not here. Where in the bloody hell is my ship?"
